Weekly Guide For Jan 9 – Jan 15

News & Next Steps

New to Hope City Church?

If you’re new to Hope City, our hope is that today would lead you closer to connecting with us, with others at Hope City, and especially with Jesus. If you’re in person, you can meet one of our team members in our Guest Lounge after the service- we would love to connect with you. If you’re online, you can go to hopecity.ca/new and you too have the opportunity to connect with one of our team members there!

Join a Serve Team

There are so many opportunities to be part of a team and serve at Hope City. From the time you drive into our parking lot to driving out, you encounter literally hundreds of front-line and background team members who are passionate about you – from lobby hosts to camera and sound, to leaders and teams caring and serving your kids, to our band members! Hope City runs on people choosing to serve Jesus. And then there are all sorts of ways to get involved. If you want to make new friends and be a part of what God is doing in people’s lives, you’ve got to be part of one of our serve teams; there is an opportunity waiting for you!

Engage Week of Prayer

There is no better way to start the New Year than in prayer. On January 10-15, we will be sending our church digital devotionals through email. January 10-14 we will encourage our church to join for prayer on Zoom. Then, on January 15th, we will gather in person for our prayer and worship night at 6pm.

The Alpha Course

Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith. Each session looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. Alpha is an open, informal, and honest space to explore and discuss life’s big questions together and you are invited. We have multiple courses starting in the last week of January.

Join A Group

We do better at life when we are connected with people and have a place to belong.  If you want to grow in your relationship with Jesus, you need to have intentional relationships with people who have the same goal—and Hope City Groups are the ideal place for that.  A place to belong and a place to grow. Our Winter Semester for small groups is starting soon! Check out the options today in the lobby after the service or head to hopecity.ca/groups.

Baptism Classes

Following the example of Jesus, we see baptism as a way of confirming the work Jesus has done in the life of someone who has made the incredible decision to follow Jesus. If you have made that decision and have not been baptized – now is the time to get baptized. Our next baptism classes are coming up next week.

Grief Share Support Group

Grief Share is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone. Grief Share offers support and encouragement for those who have experienced the death of a loved one. Using biblical concepts, it helps to guide those who are hurting, as they grieve. Starting January 13.

Church Life Class

Come and learn the heart behind Hope City!  Led by Pastor Phil, this class gives a great orientation to our church – who we are, what we believe, why we exist and what we value! As part of Church Life, we will explain the membership process as well as provide application forms for those interested in applying for church membership. Regardless of whether you become a member, you’re welcome to attend and learn more!

Great things happen in and through our church and you can be a part of them through your financial contributions. Our primary source of financial support (over 90%) is individual donations. We call these tithes and offerings. As a Canadian Registered Charity, we are able to issue charitable tax receipts for all eligible donations.
