Serving on the Freedom Session leadership team is an honour and one of the most dynamic, challenging, rewarding and transformational ministry experiences offered at Hope City Church. Those who join our team will experience God moving in ways to restore brokenness, put marriages back together and give people a vision for their lives as they take responsibility and surrender their “victim” cards. You will have a front row seat to watch God do the impossible!

If you have a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, and are relatively healthy (emotionally), we invite you to consider serving with us. Obviously, it is advantageous if you have been through FS as a participant but we are also looking for authentic people who are willing to take the program while they help others on the same journey. Freedom Session includes a large group teaching and a small group experience...where we especially need Facilitators in order to run. We will train and support you with detailed “briefings” that coach you through your small group preparation. An added benefit to those who serve is the healing or additional healing God will do in your own life as you surrender new areas to His leadership and love. Every Facilitator is required to complete their own FS homework and apply it to the next area in their life God wants to deal with. This applies to ALL Facilitators, even those who have completed FS and/or have served as a Facilitator before.

FS is also a discipleship ministry “training engine.” Frankly, some of us don’t need more information, more Bible Study or theological discussion. For some of us, the next step in our discipleship is learning to disciple someone else. FS will give you that opportunity.

Applicant's Information

While FS is an exciting and rewarding ministry, it’s not for the faint of heart. We are ministering to real people with real lives. Please carefully consider the following weekly commitment and training outline:

Freedom Session “game day”: Thursdays, from 6.15 – 9.30 PM weekly.
If you have a vacation or travel already planned during the FS schedule, please let us know on your application and we can discuss. Otherwise, we would expect you to make FS a weekly priority commitment.

Complete your own FS homework (~1.5 hours/week) and spend another 30-45 minutes preparing to lead your small group discussion. You will likely have another 15-minute weekly telephone meeting with a coach or director periodically throughout the course – this is to help support and encourage your own personal journey. 

In addition to the formal weekly commitments, FS Facilitators are asked to love, care and pray for 4-6 individuals assigned to their small group. This may include an additional phone call, an email/note, and possibly the occasional one on one. 

There will be two (2) evenings on your regular FS night during the 21 weeks where you are asked to host a “Going Deeper” night possibly offsite. These are evenings for sharing each other’s stories and discussing some of the materials at a deeper level. These are written into the program. These will most likely be on your normal FS evening or any time slot you and your group members can all attend. This will most likely be hosted onsite.

Leadership also meets on the second Saturday of every month for ongoing support and instruction to ensure teamwork and personal health. These meetings are called The Initiative and run from 10 AM – 12:30 PM once a month.

Please complete the Leadership Application. In completing the FS Leadership application, you are confirming:
- your willingness to participate on the leadership team
- your willingness / availability to attend the 21 weekly sessions, the training session, and the monthly Initiative small group.
