Church doesn’t have to be on a sunday.
New Thursday night church service at 7pm starting September 19th.
We’re getting that question a lot. And it’s probably because Sunday has been reserved as the day that people gather to go to church. But the rhythm of our culture has changed and gathering to seek and understand Jesus and build community with other people can happen any time, anywhere!
We still have church services happening on Sunday mornings, and those gatherings are getting full. We’re trusting that adding a service time on Thursday night will:
1. Provide a new opportunity for people to go to church who can’t make Sunday mornings (shift workers, people on vacation…etc).
2. Create space in our auditorium on Sunday mornings as people shift their preferred service time to Thursday night.
Whether you’re currently part of Hope City Church or are just checking things out, we’d love to have you join us this Fall as we start Thursday night church.
Phil and his wife moved to Edmonton in 2006 to bring leadership to our Young Adult congregation (The Project) and transitioned to leading the church in 2015. Phil is passionate about making faith relevant to today’s culture and helping individuals connect with God. Phil, Marla and their two daughters all enjoy calling this their home church.
what to expect
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
We are more concerned with what’s going on with your heart than what you are wearing. Wear what makes you feel comfortable!
WHAT ARE THE SERVICES LIKE?
Our services are 60 minutes long. You are welcome to come as an observer without fear of being singled out. Our aim is to communicate
WILL I BE ASKED TO GIVE MONEY?
We don’t want you to feel pressured to give. We want you to enjoy the environment and worship experience. If you call our church your home, we encourage you to give financially to God and His church as an act of worship.
DO MY CHILDREN SIT WITH ME?
Before the service starts, you can register your children for our kid's programs inside our Guest Lounge (located in our café). There, our volunteers will register your children and provide them with name tags. Parents then sit with their children in the main service. About 10 minutes into the service an announcement will be made to dismiss the children. Once dismissed our volunteers in white lab coats will lead them to their classrooms. Children ages 0-5 need to be collected by a parent or authorized guardian (a unique personal code is used to match up parents and kids). Our nursery programs for children 0-36 months are open during the entire service. Parents will receive a personal text on their cell phone to alert them if their child requires their attention.
